"I was curious to know if a Bentley that my father-in-law once owned was still around so I ran a search via Google on the registration number (YO 6878). To my surpise the car did show up on your website so I am now wondering if it would be possible to contact the current owner.

We have some photos from the 1950s and I believe that there is some other information on the car available.

I would be intersted to know if the current owner is contactable and if they are interested in discussing the history of the car. We would be very interested to see it!"

"One of my neighbours, Barry Jenkinson, owned YO 6878 between about 1953 and 1958. Barry has asked me whether I could trace the car or at least find out something of its more recent history. I have a photograph of the car in the 1950s.

I note that YO 6878 is listed on your record, with its chassis and engine numbers. However, the more recent images of the car on your website show two seater bodywork with long front mudguards and small headlights. This is very different from the car in the 1950s photograph supplied by my neighbour, which shows a four seater with cycle-style mudguards, large headlamps and wider passenger compartment.

So either the bodywork has substantially changed since the late 1950s, or the plate has been transferred to a different vehicle and the later images on your website are of a different car. Incidentally, YO 6878 appears on the DVLA website as a 4.5 litre but it was definitely a 3 litre when Barry owned it!

I wonder whether anyone could shed a light on this. I would be happy to supply a copy of the photograph."

"I’ve managed to get a photograph of YO 6878 (above) from my neighbour and the car’s 1950s owner, Barry Jenkinson. As I mentioned previously, Barry says that it had a 3 litre engine, whereas the current DVLA information says that it’s a 4.5 litre. The bodywork also appears to be different from that on the car of the same registration in your website photographs. I would be very grateful indeed if anyone can shed some light on this mystery." - Aug 29, 2019

Photos (from the 1950s) and information on the car is available with the then car owner. We were contacted by his son-in-law in April 2012 with this info.
