According to Michael Hay's "Bentley: The Vintage Years" - 1997, "No. 9 was driven by Duff and Clement in the 1925 Le Mans, the first of the "black" Le Mans... No. 9 was then fitted with a Weymann single-seat body to take the World's 24 Hours Record at 95.03 mph at Montlhery on the 21st/22nd September 1925. Finally No. 9 was fitted with a Macquet Galvier saloon body and sold to Ronald Leon. The true identity of MD7187? Chassis No. 1040, registered YM7646 with Vanden Plas body no. 1148."

Michael Hay, in his book Bentley: The Vintage Years, 1997, states: "Vanden Plas body no. 1148. Duff's 1925 Le Mans car and 24 hour Montlhery record car. Then sold to Ronald Leon with Macquet Galviet saloon. 25 gallon Le Mans tank."
