"The car now boasts a VdP made body which was put on in late 1936, re-registered for road tax purposes FML 3. The 'new' body is of the two seater, saddle tank variety as fitted in the same period as the 3/4½ liter car registered DLR 8.

The work done to chassis 682 included modifying the A box to central gear change entrusted to Thompson and Taylor of Brooklands. All this work was done under the aegis of WO Bentley's brother, H.M. Bentley who modified several 1920s Bentleys in the 1930s to make them look more up-to-date.

FML3 is a registration pertaining to the period late 1936, early 1937 for the then Greater London, NW.Currently green, it might have been grey prior to 1951."

"My Grampa used to own this car, this was rebuild as one of two HM Bentley Conversions. The other car was DLR8. FML3 had a Bentley D-Type Box, 30 gallon slab tank, two Spare wheels and it was on 18" wheels it was also a 2 seater. This was done in the mid 30s. It was grey when he owned it but he painted it green."

"I have just found a picture of this car which was first owned by my grandfather Gerald Wills when he was St Cambridge, I think. In the passenger seat is my grandmother, I think before they were married. I understand he had at least two other Bentleys but have no detail of them."
