"Your previous history is correct in so much that it was an Austin body not a Morris.

Past owners post-war:
- 1950-1965? G.R.Sandwith with Morris Oxford body? (see Johnnie Green's book)
- 1968-1986 Dutch Motor Museum?
- Richard Frankel 1986-2006?

One of the 500 plus Speed Model chassis. 4½ litre Engine was in the car prior to Sandwith ownership."

~~

Nov 18, 2015:
"Also could you please correct the point that the car was rebodied with the Austin body as illustrated in the Johnnie Green Book not "Date unknown" with" now believed almost certainly in the very late '30's (Pre-War) when it would have been upgraded with it's 4½ litre engine and steering". I have not read the entry in the latest Claire Hay books, but I believe she confirms this too."

"This is a vintage Bentley with some serious attitude. Fast reliable and a super road touring car.
Last owner for some 15 years (always a good sign). He has had this Bentley rebuilt to full race/road use. (Loads of bills all in the file)

Specification boasts:
Real Bentley 4½ litre engine with phoenix crank, rods, high compression pistons and Borg and Beck clutch with light flywheel.
Gearbox with D Type gears.
4½ litre steering , light steering to you and me.

A proper vintage Bentley with that very desirable combination of 3 litre speed model chassis with 4½ litre engine and fab L Mans style coachwork and those sexy long wings.

With full FIA and FIVA papers."

"I have recently been sent this image of Bentley Reg No. RM3927, Chassis No TN1554. I remembered it from Johnnie Green’s book “Bentley: Fifty Years of the Marque” illustrated in the 3 litre section on page 25. (Acknowledgement BDC)

The accompanying text reads: This chassis number TN1554 registered RM 3927, originally fitted with a Freestone and Webb Weymann saloon, has since been fitted with a sports tourer destined for the Austin 12/6 and then listed as an alternative to their standard models. At least six 3 Litres were so converted. (Date unknown)
It was rebuilt in c. 1988 by Tony Fabian of Blackmore Engineering with a Jim Pearce Body.

Incidentally, the June race meeting should have been captioned Donington and the August trip to the Lake District passes was as a trial for the recently reinstalled Autovac — both events at which it performed faultlessly."
