The car took 2nd Place at 1922 Tourist
Trophy race.
"The three Bentley cars which
ran in this race were standard production
models with slight modifications for
racing purposes, and were in no sense
specially built chassis. The fact
that the Bentleys were the only team
to finish proves their reliability
under the most strenuous conditions.
Only 5 cars finished the course, of
which three were Bentleys." |

More Info: Michael Hay, in his book Bentley: The Vintage Years,
1997, states: "2nd
1922 TT. Renumbered as Indy Car (ch.94,
eng 53, reg ME 4976) appeared post-war
reg YR 1010 (with logbook of that car
chassis DE1204) then reg ME 4976 before
being rebuilt by Cranfield. Now in Indianapolis
Speedway Museum." |
