Dear Robert,

Further to our exchange of emails regarding my old friend Paul Gibbs Pancheri attached are photos of an "A" type gear box which I obtained from Paul in the 1970s after he had retired from Malaya and was running a post office. I think he had this spare gearbox with him in Malaya and brought it back with him to the U.K with his Bentley. I remember him telling me that he had also a spare chassis which he unfortunately had left in the Harper Gilfillan Pte.Ltd. (shipping agents / the company he worked for) warehouse in Singapore in the early years after the war. In those days he did not consider it worth bothering about!

I digress, the interesting point is that this gear box is clearly stamped AP 302 which may indicate that it was originally fitted to 3 litre ch.no. AP 302 Eng. No. 1246.

It's a pure guess but I know Paul had a close relationship with Syd Lawrence in the post-war period so he may have sourced the gearbox and chassis from him.

Regards
Alan Giles
