A Photo Essay

entley Drivers Club members got together at the Virginia International Raceway in May 2003 for a racing weekend with the Vintage Sports Car Club. Whit Ball and Paul Sydlowski, both racing 3 Litres, organized the event. Several members came to the racecourse on their way to North Carolina for the annual North American Vintage Bentley Meet. A large convoy came from England, taking in both the racing and the Vintage Bentley Meet as part of the BDC's Eastern USA Tour. The BDC Mid-South Region acted as co-sponsors of the tour and the racing.

Saturday's practice brought interesting sights: A 4½ leading the du Pont through the esses, another 4½ leading British sports cars from the fifties and sixties, and perhaps the best moment, when a 3 was leading a Ferrari. Glorious moments!

Watching different lines through the corners can be fascinating. A 4½ can have a difficult job holding off a 3 with a determined driver.

In a reversal of history, the Stutz beat the Bentleys in Sunday's race. Still, all had fun, no engines were blown, and the racing was a perfect prelude to the tours to follow.
