Message from Bentley Drivers Club of Australia

We were delighted to hear that Robert and Mona are planning to add to their impressive range of vintage Bentley news and information with a regular Newsletter. I first came across www.vintagebentleys.org when a small error on my keyboard led me to their site, rather than ours! (Note carefully the spelling!) I wasn't aware of their endeavors before, but am now a regular user. In fact I was very pleased and surprised to see that they had several old photos of my 3-litre that I hadn't seen before! They provide a wonderful resource and do a great job for the vintage Bentley enthusiast. The Bentley Drivers Club of Australia wishes them every success with their Newsletter.

Canberra National Bentley Rally September 2008
Bentley Drivers Club of Australia

Last year the club and the BDC (Victoria Region) organised a most successful National Bentley Rally in Canberra, the first in the national capital. More than 75 Bentleys of all eras (including 23 "WO's") came from around Australia — the largest such gathering we've ever had. This was the 16th national meeting, the first having been held more than 30 years ago. We, and our vintage sports car friends in Australia, continue to enjoy our motoring in the wide open spaces. That's what it's all about — using and enjoying our old cars. Visitors are always most welcome. Contact details are to be found on our website.

Three of our members are off to the United Arab Emirates, mainly Doha, Abu Dhabi, Oman and Dubai, later this month to join the "Arabian Gulf Adventure" Bentley/Rolls Royce Rally. We will cover some 1,500 miles over three weeks, so we are not expecting it to be too arduous, but should be lots of fun. At this stage sand/dust storms are one of our main concerns for the cars with no air filters. The ladies' panty-hose might have to be put to good use! We will give you a report after we get back.
