I apologize for my absence from the web site and my lack of correspondence with readers. Starting January this year, I have been undergoing tests for heart surgery and I expected the surgery to occur in March. It has been delayed by a couple of months. Add to that my March engagement to be married in June. And then there is my automotive business, McLellan's Automotive History, which I expect to sell or liquidate by the end of this year. Most time consuming of all was the preparation to sell my fiancé's house. The house is now sold and that is a great relief. Now I will have more time to spend on the web site.

Thanks to Mona Nath, the web site has continued on with the posting of your photos and information. Soon I will be able to devote the time that was spent on my literature business towards the web site and we will see more progress than ever. I look forward to getting to know each one of you and sharing your enthusiasm for Vintage Bentleys.

I would like to thank the following vintage Bentley enthusiasts for their contributions in May 2014:

Andrew Whittaker FIMI, Bert Degenaar, Brett Peattie, Chester McKaige, Chris Ward, Edward LaBounty, Ernest Van Arendonk, Ernst Jan krudop, Frank Cavasinni, Guy Parker, John Skidmore, Justina Beck, Peter Cartwright, Pipo Aymamí, R Morton, Ron Doss, Russell Browne.

Priceless classic Bentley racing cars get ready for 2014 Mille Miglia Challenge
By Nick Kurczewski - New York Daily News (May 8, 2014)
Bentley doesn't like things to gather dust, especially not when its a pair of supercharged racing cars in need of a 1,000 mile workout. That's why Bentley Motors is bringing two examples of their famous ‘Blowers’ to the 2014 Mille Miglia, one of the world’s most historic classic car rallies — not to mention one of the longest, at more than 1,000 miles!

Article from 1948
4½ Litre Bentley

Original factory literature produced from article in "Motor Sport" magazine, February 1948 issue

The first 4½-litre car to be produced was the famous old No. 1 "team" chassis, ST3001, immortalised in motoring history as a participant in the epic crash at White House Corner on the Sarthe Circuit in the course of the Grand Prix d'Endurance at Le Mans in 1927. It will be remembered that hopes of a runaway victory, on this occasion, were dashed to the ground by the unfortunate triple crash involving the entire Bentley team.
