We are greatly appreciative of all your information and photos that we proudly display on the web site. But you are selling yourself short. There is a tremendous amount of knowledge and skill among our readers, and we would like to ask you to share yours with others.

You are particularly good at something having to do with old car restoration, repair and maintenance. It might be body work, sheet metal, welding, upholstery, electrical work, painting, brakes, engines, alignment, cooling or any of the hundreds of other things necessary to get and keep a car on the road. The point is, whatever you are particularly good at is a skill that others would like to learn. And who better to teach them than someone who does it himself?

If working on a car scares you, and you prefer the expertise of someone more knowledgeable and skilful with tools, you probably have historical knowledge of your car or Vintage Bentleys that others would love to read about. Your knowledge is valuable and interesting and needs to be preserved.

The biggest reservation usually is, "I can't write". Maybe not, but you can speak, can't you? That is all that writing is and don't worry about spelling or sentence construction or grammar. We will proofread your work and make you look brilliant. It is what is inside your head or what you can do with your hands that counts. We want to share that with our readers.

I would like to thank the following vintage Bentley enthusiasts for their contributions in April 2013:

Anton van Luijk, Bernd Lehmann, Bert Degenaar, Don Struke, Duncan Kensington Moir, Gregory Porter, John Anderson, John Skidmore, Leon Mitchell, Michael Harrison, Peter Singhof, Peter Worrall, Phillip Schudmak, Richard Freestone, Rob Hubbard, Roy Ginn, Russell Browne, Terry McGrath, Tom King, Tony Johns, Tony Sinclair, Vince Royle (A few of the contributions are queued up and will be published in the next few days.)

Chassis no. 276 is looking for a new home

Read a very detailed account of 3-litre chassis no. 276, which has been in the keeping of the same owner in Victoria, Australia, since the early 1950s. Leon Mitchell, the owner's friend of 30+ years is helping the family to find a new home for the Bentley. Leon begins the account: "This stunningy original 3-litre Bentley has been a treasured possession of the present custodian -- a respected professional restorer of fine vintage cars and motorcycles - for approximately sixty years..."

Article from 1973
The 4½-litre Bentley

By Darell Berthon & Anthony Stamer

Of all the designs emanating from the concise and fertile brain of the late Walter Owen Bentley, that quiet and retiring Engineer and Gentleman, the 4 cylinder 4½-litre (actually 4398 cc.) gave the fewest teething troubles and perhaps afforded him the maximum of personal satisfaction. It was also the favourite model of his regular racing drivers, who found it more flexible than the 3-litre, and who appreciated the inherent safety and stability given to it by its understeering characteristics...
