According to Michael Hay's "Bentley: The Vintage Years" - 1997, this car was used as a demonstrator by A F C Hillstead. The book says, "The body is very similar to the Vanden Plas body, and it is still unclear precisely who was responsible for the classic Vanden Plas style — whether it was Park Ward, Harrisons, or Vanden Plas. The person who probably should have been given the credit is H M Bentley. Chassis No. 183 is presently owned by L B Southward in New Zealand."

"This car was imported to New Zealand, registered as a new car, on May 2nd 1929 to Sidney Alfred Gibbons of Christchurch then after six other owners, was sold to the Southward Trust Museum at Waikanae, New Zealand on May 14 1957, and where it still resides.

A photo of this car being driven by Hillstead, appears in his book 'Those Bentley Days' 1953, Faber & Faber, London."
