This car is for sale at Stanley Mann Racing as of September 5, 2010. The advt mentions Reg. No. GP 9604 and Engine No. KR2689 but no Chassis no.

The entire text of the advt is as follows:

In 1993 we were approached by this very nice client of ours to build him his dream vintage Bentley. He had always liked the Gurney Nutting of Wolf Barnato, which was known as The Blue Train but he wanted more power and as a convertible.

Asking around, we found a superb coachbuilder in London, Carvilles and after some 18 months the coachwork was ready and fitted to this car. Many hours were spent in its construction but the finished article is amazing. With some 260 bhp 8 litre engine, she’s no slouch and golf clubs really travel in luxury compartment in the rear (well other than motor racing this was his other favourite pastime ).

I remember in 1998 he made a rash decision to sell so we took her to a classic car exhibition in Belgium and at the moment we were to sell her the organisers came on our stand to tell us we were the winners of the best car of the show. Not surprisingly we lost the sale and he kept the car. And the rather large trophy.

Dreams sometimes are disappointing when the finished product doesn’t live up to expectations but in this case all the work was worth it.

Now for sale 2010. Can be viewed at The Fruit Farm.

Stanley

For those who want her history:

Built at Bentleys as a 4 litre open four seater tourer in 1931 with body by Harrison. She was then rebuilt at bowlers (specialist Bentley dealers) in 1938 and fitted with a Coupe De Ville body with a speed six engine; KR 2689. She still has this spec but the engine was rebuilt in the 90s with an 8 litre block and new Phoenix crank and rods. After an extended holiday in the States; period early 1950 -1970s, she returned to the UK and a new 4 seater tourer body was fitted by Jolly in the 1980s. This was removed in the 90s and present body fitted to the style of Gurney Nutting.
